No doubt both captains have begun preparations for the 2009 Pineapple Cup in earnest. If rumors hold true, the captains may have a little assistance in their preparations. According to some sources, one or both captains are considering employing non-playing assistant captains during this year’s campaign. One name that the captains have reportedly considered is Jim Hobart. Neither captain cared to comment and were playing this development close to the vest.
A non-playing assistant captain’s potential role is vast and undeveloped, but would likely include riding around the golf course cheering various matches, drinking beer, doing the bull dance, feeling the flow and working it, working it.
